SEVENTH ARMY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

“KEEPING IT ALIVE”

AMERICAS MUSICAL AMBASSADORS

THE UNITED STATES SEVENTH ARMY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

THERE WILL BE A SOCIAL REUNION

FEBRUARY 26-29, 2016

SARASOTA, FL

The reunion will be held in Sarasota, Fl in concert with June LeBell, wife of former 7ASO Conductor Edward Alley, who hosts  "Music Mondays "for Sarasota Institute of Lifetime Learning here in Sarasota with audiences of 850-900 each week, January through March.

Next season, June & Ed  plan to do a “Tribute to the 7th Army Symphony” on Monday February 29th. They will have Samuel Adler and John Canarina as well as Ed as guests to talk about the orchestra, its history, show a few pictures on the big screen, and play a few short selections from 7ASO’s recording vault.  In addition, June and Ed co-produce a weekly radio series "June LeBell’s Musical Conversations”.  (June was the first woman in commercial classical music radio, spending almost 30 years at WQXR, the Radio Station of the NY Times, and winning some 18-20 awards for her programs.)  Her program is aired twice weekly (Sundays at 4PM and Tuesdays at 6pm (eastern), on WSMR, which covers most of the Gulf Coast of Florida.  It is streamed live, and also available as a podcast on WSMR.org .  Past guests have included Marilyn Horne (wife of former 7ASO conductor the late Henry Lewis), Leonard Slatkin, Dick Hyman, Olga Kern, Joyce Yang, etc.  They also intend to do a special 7ASO program, which will probably be aired early next spring.

The hosts for the Reunion will be Ed Alley and Stu Krams.  If you are interested in attending this social reunion, please email Stu as soon as possible at the address given below.

Sarasota, while possessing the #1 Beach in the World, is also the cultural capital of Florida’s Gulf Coast, with an outstanding regional orchestra, the Sarasota Opera, Asolo Rep Theater, Florida Studio Theater, Sarasota Ballet and numerous community theaters.  During the proposed reunion weekend visitors can see all four operas in the Opera Repertory (Aida, Fidelio, Cosi, and Battle of Legnano), two plays at the Asolo Theater and many other attractions.  Or just visit the beach!
